The price is a bit high but what can you really compare it to? I suppose the Cayman S comes to mind, and the CS did win at least one comparo I read.

Been doing my research and there is no quick-and-dirty extra boost to be had yet. Lotus changes a few things on their higher-output race-only Exiges. As you can imagine though, many owners are dying to turn up the boost. If you want monster power out of the box many folks recommend buying a NA version and adding a custom FI set-up. Price looks to be similar (or even less if you buy used).

So... how much would it cost to transplant a K20 motor into an Exige?

I don't know but I think it's been done before but on an Elise... or was it the TYPE R motor (B18C5 I think?!?!)... well whatever it was, it made the Lotus very quick.

The difference is the cayman S is a real car. If you want a race car get a race car because this aint it. I don't really understand the elise. I have driven one. It's a fun car, but as a DD, no way. As a race car, no way.

How come you say as a race car no way?

For certain though... as an Auto-X car... 150%.

It's not a real race car. It's not a street car, IMO. I can understand it if you had lots of money and own a ton of cars, but overall I just don't get it. There are just many better options for going fast if you want to build a real race car. To me it's a cool, but odd boutique car, YMMV.

If the Exige S doesn't hit hard enough for you, there's always the Exige GT3.

those of you who never drove the exige would never understand what the exige is about, it's a go kart on the road with the full ferrari experience of "attention" as a bonus. The cayman is nothing even close to it.

I daily drove my "base" exige 10,000 miles in 6 month and loved every minute of it.
