Hmm... did not see any response to the buy all season tires suggestion. I know I am thinking about getting all season tires myself. This winter might be real wet here in the SF Bay Area.

Sounds like he just wanted a new car?

Probably squeak a 15-20k mile '08 CTS under or around $25k. Priced new, 335i > CTS, but used the CTS is an awesome bargain. I was gazing upon them on ebaymotors earlier today.

I've owned 2 of the cars on your list, 350z and IS250 RWD. If the only reason you want to get a new car is because of driving in the rain then get tires better suited for the wet.

You will miss the feel of the s2k with these other cars. 350z is more a GT car and will not do any better in the wet. The IS is more luxurious but numb compared to the s. Also it will not be better in the wet unless you get the is250 AWD.

I just experienced driving in some serious hard rain last Saturday on Route 1 here in NJ with the stock summer re050 tires and had NO PROBLEMS at all.

Drove today in 36 degree weather today and again had NO PROBLEMS. I know summer performance tires lose grip in cold but it is not that bad. If I didn't have to worry about snow or ice I would keep them on all year.

Why not go CTS-V? They can be had for less than $25K.

if you haggle you could get an sti limited (no boy racer wing and leather interior). the 330i zhp wouldn't be a bad choice either. also many 04/05 audi s4's can be had for around 25k.
