All this HIGH MGP mania really only pays off if you are driving a lot of miles. I mean if a Diesel costs an extra $2K and you only save $50 a year because you only drive 5K miles a year than it will never pay for itself.
IMO don't worry about the MPGs for this car. I mean if you want a Hemi or a Fit really the gas is not an issue. Other things that are an issue are insurance or initial cost but if you are just driving 100 miles a week gas costs are not a big deal.

riiiight.. just drive your new M3 when it arrives, and find out for yourself how much it'll bother you to be driving a 12mpg car with a tiny gas tank. i dont care how much $ one makes, when you drop $70-80 on a tank of gas, and find 1/4 of it gone after driving 50 miles, you go "WTF-"
we do have a MDX as well so I know what 'm getting into. I don't think the M3 is rated any worse than millions upon millions of SUVs and PU-trucks people drive every day.
Also the M3 is rated 14/20 -- average 17 MPG. People are seeing their personal MPGs in the 17-18 mpg range average.
--------
I said for the OP who drives about 14 miles a day not a big deal to go from a IS350 to whatever is the best MPG car sold. He's only spending like $3 a day on gas so if he gets a car that is double what a IS350 gets he'll be saving $1.5 a day that's not big money.

I don't profess to be a total tax expert, but at least in my situation I can't contribute to a trad. IRA b/c I'm eligible to contribute to a 401(k) at work - can't have both. Roth IRA is OK, subject to declining contribution ceilings once you hit a certain income level.
My wife and I max out my 401(k) and Roth IRA's before we even think about non-tax advantaged investments.
