Not Nigerian...yet. But for instance, here's one e-mail --

"Hello
Am interested in the item you advertised because i like the
condition you stated about it and I would like to make an outright
purchase immediately so i would want you withdraw the advert from the
web.Regarding the payment term,I can only for now pay you with a
certified check in U.S dollars so pls let me have the following
informations so that the payment can be made to you :.Your full name
to be on the check.2.Your postal address.3.Your postal code4.Your
mobile phone number (For easier comunications).Kindly get me the above requested information as soon as possible. Thanks in Advance."

Yeah, no f'ing way! My cell phone number is printed in the ad, right next to my e-mail address. Who buys a bike sight-unseen? And certified check? We all know you can wipe you @ss with forgeries. I told him to call me if he was serious.

What, do you guys think I'm being unkind?

Nobody has EVER attempted to scam me on Craigslist with either bike that I have sold on there.

Nope, not unkind.

I get those all the time.

I tell them to send the check (to a business PO BOX I have).

You never know, it might go through but they don't get crap from me until it clears.

Another option for quick sell is the ever popular ebay. You should be even able to set the time period down to just a few days (not sure if this is allowed for motor vehicles or not). Either way, find out what they are selling for in like condition and post it up for that amount or 500 less if you really want it gone.

good luck

Are you upside down in it?

You may want to consider a consignment with the dealer you bought it from. They may be able to transfer the note if you financed through them or the manufacturer and you can wash your hands of it.
transfer the note to who? this is exactly wht im looking for

If you financed through the dealer or through a manufacturer financing program, take it back to the dealer and sell it on consignment. Let them know you just want the note transfered (or paid off if the buyer doesn't want to finance and uses cash) the note payoff is the amount you ask for. Anything above that is dealer money.

Okay, now check out craigslist scammer #2. His first e-mail was semi-normal so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. But his follow up is --

"Hello,
Glad to read from you.... I'm really interested in your item but i'm so
sorry as i won't be able to come for a look as i'm the busy type. Well,
i'll keep in touch with my financier to mail a check for the amount you're
requesting for and will have a shipping company to come for the pick up as
soon as you confirm to me that you receive the check and it clears your
bank. If this arrangement is acceptable, pls get back to me with your name
as it will appear on the check and your contact address that the check will
be mail to, along with your cell #. Get back as soon as possible.
Thanks."

Yeah, I'm REAL excited about this f'er.
