Sell my ap1?

Be a cold day in hell before I would ever give up my s2k, one of the last pure sports cars made at any price tag. Everything is technology now. f@#k if a RS is faster then my S2k on a road course, maybe a stock s2k, but who cares. A Ford Focus!? You got to be shitting me

That is absurd, no car with over 100,000 copies made will be a collectible, only S2000 fanboi's think that way. The Focus RS will be an exclusive/limited production car. Both cars started at mid 30's, I bet in 20 years the RS will be worth more than a S2000.

I think it's funny that the number of doors matters. This thing is a freaking rocket disguised as a 5 door family hatchback. It accelerates, stops, handles and brakes better than a S2000, is more exclusive and can haul way more people/stuff and probably gets the same or better MPG. Unless you absolutely have to have a convertible roadster the RS is a no brainer. I don't know why some people just can't look at the facts objectively and feel like they have to hang on to a car with 15+ year old technology like it's God's chariot.
If your budget is 15K, the S2000 is an awesome option but if you have 35-40K there are so many other great cars.

Anyone that says S2000 is the best and I won't try anything else is either too closed minded or doesn't have the money. There are too many awesome cars out there to try, live a little and don't be such a brand/badge/model whore. I wouldn't mind having a Ford hatchback and a GT3 in the same garage, who cares if it's a good car it's a good car.

while I always respect your opinion i have to disagree. I've tried plenty of cars and i wouldn't trade my S2000 for a RS. Would i trade it for a lotus/porsche HELL YES! lol
The s2000 was outperformed by the STI, Evo, and Golf R too. Doesn't mean their replacements. IMO The RS is a great DD. But it doesn't replace the s2000. The Elige/Cayman definitely does tho.
I keep the s2000 bc i can't always deal with the exige in NYC. The S2000 is much more livable for good weather commuter.

If youre s2k is beat up and on its last legs than sure but if not then no.
An s2k can and will go up in value and will be a collectible one day while a focus will simply depreciate and just be hmm a ford focus..
I would get the focus and s2k if financially possible

Besides that, the S2000 isn't about objectivity. Never was. Never will be.
The numbers isn't what the S2000 is about. It seems like you don't understand that simple concept, which is why you bash the car... on a forum dedicated to the car. Troll much?
1969 Camaro - nearly 250K made; collectible
Classic beetle - endless numbers made; collectible stateside
Classic Mini Cooper - millions made; collectible stateside
Point is, production numbers doesn't denote whether it will or won't be a collectible.

CosmosMpower - you on the right forums?
IMO, the S2000 is hard to beat for pure driving fun. I've been in or driven many sports cars, including newer, technology-filled ones, and none of them were better than the S2000 (again, talking driving fun here).
As far as comparing the new Focus RS to the S2000, it's apples and oranges. What do you need in a vehicle? The decision should be easy.
And "classic" can be defined in several ways. I'd say in 30-40 years, yeah, S2000s will generally be considered classics.

i love the idea of the RS that is coming, I sure hope it is as promised. I am considering one, or the ST, which I like as well.
I would not mention the S2000 and the RS as alternatives, they are different cars/markets, 345 hp vs 240, etc...i would ;think of the selling of your S2000 and the purchase of the Rs as separate considerations if you can.

S2000 will be classic. no doubt.
N/A screaming i4 engine,
Manual Tranny,
Mid front engine setup,
teenagers totalling these left and right.
yes, this car will be classic. might not perform as well as the RS or a lot of today's cars but this car is hell of a driver's car and neck breaker.
