Given his unceremonious departure from Ferrari, he must be doing out of loyalty to Massa.

I believe that Schumacher is doing it to show solidarity to his friend and former teammate Felipe Massa. If some young driver was given the seat, Felipe might have to worry that his ride is in jeporady. With Schumacher in the seat, Felipe knows that the seat is his the moment he recovers. Schumacher is a class act. God's speed to a fast and full recovery for Felipe.

Ticket sales just went up for future races this season.

though really if he does reall well i would be quite suprised. i mean the cars have changed a bit since he was in the game. didn't they have traction controll back then?
Don't be too surprised. Schumacher raced without traction control early in his career in Formula One.

Everyone's forgetting the Schumacher hasn't exactly been sitting on his living room recliner watching TV and smoking cigars since his retirement -- amongst other things, he's been keeping busy as a test driver for Ferrari's Formula 1 team. He already has significant seat time in the current car (test drivers often have as much or more time in the cars than the actual race drivers). I'm sure he'll get up to speed quickly, or more accurately, that he's already mostly up to speed.

the only problem is if he does too well, they might want to try and keep him on a while longer.
Yeah, but he chose to retire and he has more money than god. I'm not saying that it is impossible for him to want to come back, but why would he want to.

You're the first person, ever, to call Michael Schumacher a class act.

Big words there JonBoy. Do you really feel like you're in a position to judge the guy? Have you ever met him, talked to the guy? Oh that's right, you've seen a few replays of him in races. Well that must make you quite the authority. The guy is a family man with a wife and kids and has been very active in a wide range of charities-- real scumbag material, eh?

Pretty backwards standard if you ask me. Take the NFL- half the league is made up of drunk drivers, murders, rapists, dog fight ring leaders, etc. but if a guy can rush for more than 1,500 yards he's a hero... a "class act."
