'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder' is total BS.

You might marry an ugly woman, you might be in love with her, and that might make her beautiful in your eyes. Would you be stupid enough to turn to someone else and say 'this is my wife, isn't she beautiful?'. No, you wouldn't because there are certain conformist ideas as to what makes something beautiful. If that were not the case, we would all be world class artists (or none of us would be, as our tastes would be so dramatically different). Aesthetics is not subjective, it's a science. It may not be politically correct what I'm saying, but it is true.

I agree in most cases there is scope for discussion, but not on those classic Ferraris, they are gorgeous. Not my personal opinion, the science of aesthetics dictates it. If anyone is so non-conformist to disagree, chances are they either have poor taste (yes, such a thing does exist), or are saying it on purpose for shits n giggles or shock factor (lots of those types on the internet, disagree for the sake of disagreeing).

Anyway, again this is my opinion. And let me clarify before the flames start, cos I WAS NOT SAYING HE HAD POOR TASTE OR IS WRONG, I was just expressing my surprise at the statement of a 'styling fail'. I'll give you 'dated', I'll give you 'other ferraris look better', but I won't give you 'styling fail', cos it simply isn't. Hope that's clearer, wouldn't want anyone to think I'm suppressing anything.

Anyway, it's cool, no need to derail the thread, I shouldn't have asked him if he was a car enthusiast, even though it was an innocent question, I can see how it could be misconstrued as a flame, so my apologies for not being more careful with my phrasing.

Reading any other thread in Car Talk disproves this theory in an instant.
