Not exactly. The Mercury Villager is a rebadged Nissan Quest. There are very few Ford parts on that car (steering column and wheel, wiper motors, radio). It was an all Nissan powertrain and chassis built in a Ford assembly plant.

Of course, I stand corrected. Minivans aren't my forte.

what makes people say that american engines suck??? now american interior quality........
Not all American engines suck just GM . Ask anyone that has had a GM engine for a couple of years and you will come to understand the truth.
No company is perfect not even Honda (Passport as a prime example)
However to me GM Engineering is "How cheap can we make it " compared to a company that has a Formula 1 engine that goes to 18,000 or more rpm.

When is the last time Honda put an F1 engine in a passenger vehicle - I don't really get that comparison...

GM has good engines. LS1, LS6 V8's for example. The 3.8L V6 - not an exciting engine but bulletproof. The Ecotec is a strong motor if you are into modding, and if you've driven a supercharged one, it pulls a lot stronger than 205 HP suggests in the ION Redline (great engine looking for a better car).

If you want to talk racing, GM has done some 1000+ HP versions and broke the Pro FWD record at the Salt Flats with a done up ION Redline (212 MPH), then broke it again with a Cobalt SS (243 MPH!).

Just because Honda didn't compete doesn't mean Honda's engine suck.

Personally I would not buy the Honda truck with or withoug the GM engine. Neither would I buy any other full size foreign truck (Nissan, Toyota, whatever else there is) they just look hideous to me, and the pics of the new Honda is worse than the others.

Haven't seen the new honda. But you have to give it to the Nissan Titan. Its bad @ss. If I were looking at new trucks it would be hard to pass this one up.

Can't beat the toyota build quality. But considering the price and the inflated resail values, bang for the buck you can't miss with a domestic truck.

This last winter I bought an 2000 F150 XLT 4.3L V6, 5spd, CD Player, power everything for $9,500. It had 48k miles. Granted its 2wd but for commuting and hailing stuff to and from the house you cant beat it. I get 18 mpg and it rides very nice with no rattles. Also well maintained. I would have paid 4-5k more for a comparable toyota. In fact, I started looking for a used toyota first and was floored by how few were on the market and what people were asking for them.
