Looks great IMO. How's the specs compared to the S2K though?

I test drove a saturn sky yesterday to see what all the hype was.....it was the most boring drive of my life. First of the thing redlines at 7K, don't know about you guys but I can't ever go back from a 9K redline.......second it has no power, it does have more torque, i was able to chirp second with 18 inch rims. But the car is all plastic. the stero is amazing(but coming from our crappy one that aint saying much. By the end of the test drive i was selling the S2K to the salesman, and he was like "i've never seen one of these"

I test drove one myself a few months back. I couldn't agree more on how boring it was. I could feel the weight of the car--it was too slow. I thought it had a good bit of interior space. I'll go back and test drive the Redline version That one should be interesting

My in-laws have a sky. When we went up to their place, I drove it much of the time we were there. Nice car. Obviously its not an s2k, but that was not the point of the car to begin with. Its MUCH more comfy than the s2k, has a nice compliant ride, the interior is far superior to the s2k. Don't kid yourself into thinking the Honda's is better. Its not.

What i didn't like:
1) Trunk space. What the hell, you have to have something. this is just stupid.
2) Belt line. I thought the s2k was bad, the sky is worse.
3) tires. with the 18s on it, the tires are way to high profile. It needs a much lower profile to look correct.

Great looking car. When the turbo comes it will be a great choice for someone seeking power and style. It will however continue to fall short of the established roadster benchmarks in terms of overall driving experinece.

The biggest drawback is the maual roof which can only be operated outside the car. And this comes in a time when Mazda has figured out how to add a 75lb folding hardtop into the MX-5, GM droped the ball badly.

I'd be more interested in seeing a Kappa-based coupe at this point.

GM did a great job on the Sky/Solstice for GM. The turbo model takes care of some of the engine harshness . Power on the Turbo is good, but still not up the the level of the S (acceleration wise, it's still slower). The S is still more refined. There is just no excuse for the lack of trunk space when the top is down. and the convertible top is prone to leaking! You just can't change the last 2.

I am not a 100% sure but isn't the Sky/Solstice just a rebadged/rebodied Opel GT? Look at their website http://www.opel.com/flash.html and you can see a link for the car. I believe that the Opel GT has been in the works for some time and they decided to bring it here as the Solstice/Sky. It's a shame they did not just bring it as an Opel, I think that it would of had more appeal to me than just a "Saturn" or "Pontiac" Don't get me wrong I love Pontiacs, my brother and I worked on his '74 Formula with a 400 and that thing was fast and I always wanted a '67 GTO like my fathers! But I never been very fond of the Saturn line! Looking a little closer the Sky looks just like a rebadged Opel GT, but the Opel does it better

Nope, the earlier Opel GT was a Lotus Elise based car. The Kappa platform (Solstice, Sky, Opel) was created to under pin the Solstice and sibs. The Solstice was the first of the sibs to be shown publicly. The platform most definitely was started off in the US.
However, your confusion is understandable. The original Sky concept looks nothing like the current car. The first time I saw a concept car with the styling that became the Sky it had an Opel badge on the nose. I also believe the Sky's styling was done in Europe with the intent of being an Opel.
