He's talking about the weight of the car being under 3,000 lbs. which was their target weight but I don't believe it happened that way.

I have the same feeling. I love the SKY and hate the SOLSTICE.

I would hold judgement until you drive the car -- that's unfair to GM.

GM has been rising in quality, nearly matching their Japanese counterparts. Furthermore, Lotus (you know, designer of the Elise/Exige, F1 success?) was a major consultant to GM and helped design the Ecotech as well as the Sky/Solstice chassis.

So why the hate when you haven't even driven it?
I have driven my dad's 2005 Grand Prix GT. GM has gotten no where with their basic cars and quality. For what he paid, there are much better cars on the market to buy.

The Sky is more upmarket than the Solstace, it will carry a slightly higher price tag because of this. I happen to really like the look, and honestly GM really needs to do well with this car, for their own sakes.

The Solstace/Sky are the 1st cars to come out of GM on the new Kappa architecture, the RWD platform that they are built on was created to allow GM to create more RWD cars of this basic size. In fact there was a concept Nomad that was shown a while ago that was kind of interesting.

The Nomad concept

Nice looking car, but execution is a problem.

There is no interior space, no trunk space and the door materials are horrible, a few hours of driving and your elbows will be sore.

How's this different from an S2k?

Fear - American cars in general are going up in quality and have gotten really close to their Japanese counterparts. They've already exceeded their German counterparts in quality issues per 10,000 vehicles produced. Let me find a graph somewhere and I'll edit this post.

Its a Saturn. Enough said.
My 1993 Saturn SL2 had 190k+ on it when i got rid of it. And it still ran just fine. Probably one of the best cars I ever owned. The same can't be said about alot of Hondas...
