The S2000 is "just a Honda"
The NSX is "just a Honda"
Why is being "just a Saturn" a problem... unless you are a badge whore who thinks the Honda badge is something special.
If it's a good car (currently I've never driven it so I don't know) why should we piss and moan about the badge? But hell how should I know, I drive just a Honda.

Exactly. Now the challenge is to name another GM product that is as well done as the Corvette.
The GTO
Quite a number of non-domestic GM products
The Solstice
The engines in the C-130
The current SAAB line up (well the SAAB ones anyways).

I am not one to think the Honda badges somehow are a substitute for a Superman badge, or say a Ferrari badge....
But after owning three GM products I can say that it is truly no wonder their company is headed down the shitter.

I just have trouble with the people who have this attitude that a Saturn badge is a bad thing but Honda is cool. The Honda might be a better car but neither are "cool" cars. Ferrari, Corvette, 911 etc, those are cool. The S2000 sneaks in as well.

I like the styling of the Sky, I think the Solstice is a little weird looking. There are a couple of Solstices driving around town here so I have seen them in person. I'm basing my opinion of the Sky on pictures.
I've obviously driven neither, but I can't say that I aspire to own the NA version of an Ecotec. I'm sure the turbo will be a different story, but until then....
I think GM has generally done a good job with those cars, with the exception of maybe the PITA convertible top. With the C6. the new Cadillacs, the new SUVs, the Solstice/Sky and to a lesser degree the G6, I think GM is making strides towards fielding competitive cars again. I hope they keep going, the world needs fewer crappy cars.

Sky over the Solstice - the Pontiac looks like a bug (not a VW)

GM has been rising in quality, nearly matching their Japanese counterparts. Furthermore, Lotus (you know, designer of the Elise/Exige, F1 success?) was a major consultant to GM and helped design the Ecotech as well as the Sky/Solstice chassis.
So why the hate when you haven't even driven it?
