The sky isnt really a new car. In fact, it is 2 years old. Its just that we are getting it now. The real car, the Vauxhall VX200/VX220 was out in Europe, as a RWD, rear engine car. Then GM took it, moved the motor up front, and ruined it.

Also, based on the depriciation value of the vauxhall, this car will be in the mid/low teens after a year of ownership. If you really want one, buy one used, and save the money.

Just another rebadger from GM.
Are you sure about that? The Vauxhall is based on the Elise, is my understanding. Mid-engined and aluminum frame. The Solstice/Sky are neither. They're the same cars in the way that the S2000 and NSX are - which is "not."

It has been modified, but the architecture is the same. The platform is 90% similar.

Even if you watch top gear, the review of the Vauxhall 220, Clarkson states that the car will be coming to the US next year (this year) without the turbo, or rear engine configuration.

Ill try to find some more concrete info.

The car, unlike the GTO which was a direct port, will be Saturnized....the interior will NOT be as nice as the VX220. Also, the car does share parts with the OPEL Speedster, which is NOT a bad thing. This car has the potential of being great, if GM keeps the essence of it.

The GTO was a great job. No sh!tty Pontiac Quality, and well built. Also, there is more to a car than how it looks/feels when you leave from the dealer. my s2000 is 3 years old, and still looks, runs, and feels like new (no rattles, squeeks, wear marks etc.)

IMHO, American cars are pretty nice when new, but age VERY fast. Items that are used/touched rub off, squeek...etc. My friend's Chrysler 300C was gorgeous when new (I still think its a great car) but is showing its age early. The dash is discolored, trim has peeling paint, and its developing annoying squeeks.

This IMHO is due to the weak labor force in the US....people here just dont care.

Lets see how it turns out. I checked out the Solstice last week, and wasnt too impressed. Looks are pretty much the only thing I liked.

I believe all three came from the same studio. Your post makes little sense as Opel/Vauxhall IS GM. Why does it mater which studio did the work?
The european division can do styling suspension and interiors, but the American division is stuck in the 60's, pathetic

Same with Ford, bring us some Euro Focus's not the NA style. Eventually they will get it........ I hope.

The Acura TSX is identical to the Honda Accord that the rest of the world gets.

The Lexus ES300 is a Camry.

The Audi A3 is a MkV Golf.

The G35 Coupe is a modified 350Z.

The list goes on...

Platform sharing is common in the automotive world. The Sky is NOT the VX200/220 and Vauxhall IS GM.

Get your facts straight before you post garbage.

Dumb people who make even dumber generalizations about topics they have no idea about....

The moral of the story is to check your facts before you post. If you get schooled, admit that you were entirely wrong.
