All that I can say is...it will take a lot more than "Aesthetic Appeal" in the looks dept. and a "GM Employee Discount Program" to get me back into a GM product. Now that I have owned both a Toyota and Honda I realize what "quality" means...I may never buy domestic again.
interesting thing is... I owned a SL2 (1993).. it had 198k on it when i got rid of it, and never did I have a problem. My S2k has not been "quality"; i put more money into the S2k in the first year of ownership than i did with my saturn in 5 years of ownership..

but back to the issue..
I think the Sky looks great! it reminds a little of the Vauxhaul roadster that Europe has enjoyed for some time now.. And priced under 25k, it should be a real deal.

with 170hp moving 2800lbs, it will probably run 15's in the 1/4, yeah I'm sure the s2k'ers are quaking in their boots.

I really like the way it looks, but wish the engine was a little stronger. It will be interesting to see what if any kind of aftermarket support comes along for the car in the future, as far as turbo kits, sc's, etc.

Why is it everyone wants to compare these two cars (Sky/Solstice) to the S2000 in their base (177HP) configuration? Of course they are no competition from a performance standpoint at all to the S, they are going to cost a hell of a lot less as well though. It's the Redline/GT models that will roll out later that will be of concern. I can somewhat understand people not wanting to bring unofficially announced models into the conversation, but announced or not there has been way too much chatter about the turbo/SC models for them to not be on the horizon.

I really like the look and like others,............I have 2 concerns:

1. It'll get overly dulled down from the version now shown as many companies do w/ their concepts. Tho, this one may not.
Very doubtful, I can't remember what forum I saw this on but I believe it was just yesterday or the day before there were a bunch of high-res pics posted of the Sky caught out testing on public roads with absolutely no camouflage what so ever, nothing has changed. Plus, I'm pretty sure I've seen some promotional advertising prints already made of the Sky floating around, I wouldn't think that would be likely if there was any styling change expected.

Exactly my point. I don't see how anybody would see a 15-second roadster as being competition to the S. Now if they bring out some kind of FI version, then maybe we can start comparing... but until we have some numbers to go off of for such a version, even that comparison is kind of pointless, we'd all just be guessing at how much power the car will have and how much it will weigh.

edit: btw, my reply was in response to the guy that said s2ki feels "threatened" when there is another roadster coming out, not sure if you realized that... personally, even if the Sky came out with 260hp @ 2800lbs, still wouldn't feel threatened now that I am turbo'd.

Both of these cars will be nice, but on styling, I'd take the Pontiac.

I like the Saturn and when the Red Line version comes out, Mrs. GM3 may be seriously interested. She loved it back in '03 at th LA autoshow.
