sad day

One of my colleagues passed away last night. He had just picked up an Audi RS6 and was (I assume based on the damage) driving spiritedly on a twisty road late last night. He lost control and crashed into a tree. He was pinned and died in the fire. He was a great guy and will be missed.
It's a sad and grim reminder that this could easily be one of us driving on that twisty road. All you need a deer to jump out and spook you, bang, you are on the 11 o'clock news.
Sorry to be so morbid. I just want everybody to remember we are basically driving around in flammable death traps with the illusion of safety. We need the illusion of safety to keep us moving, otherwise we'd never leave the house. However, we can all make real improvements to road safety by slowing down for the road condition, driving with awareness and courtesy. Save up $300 and take the aggressive driving to the track. Nobody wants their legacy to be a NHTSA statistic.

Wow, sorry to hear, and what a terrible way to go.
I agree that type of driving on the track and on public roads realize you may have a better handling car and be a better driver, but there are others less skilled with equipment that is not up to the task.
RIP to your friend

My condolensces. It's a grim reminder that we are indeed human and to respect the art of driving.
