get the boxster, it is a rewarding drive, makes you feel like you are a great driver, is cool. stable and well sorted out.
the bmw is a monster with 315 hp, lots of fun in a straight line and while not going to fast in the corners. has flexy chassis, and is cool.
i would opt for the boxster and not look back...better yet a s2000 is a superior choice to either of them, given price.

BTW if there any Z3 owners out here, do your interiors fall apart too?
Almost every button-plastic cover was falling off in my car, the interior really isn't tightly screwed together on the bimmer; is it me or is build quality in Z3 BMWs really average compared to the S2000 or Boxster S?

It's been a while, but I recall it feeling better screwed together than my (minimally optioned) 2003 Boxster's interior. Having said that, with the exception of a cupholder that a tire fell on, nothing's gone wrong with my Boxster's interior either.

www.caymanclub.net welcomes Boxster owners, as there is a lot of commonality between the cars (987 Boxsters, at least).
Then there's Pete's Boxster Board, which seems active, but IMO their forum SW isn't too hot.
