For the record my C6 that has been beat on daily and now has 20K miles on it has been perfect. My Dad's 99 has been bulletproof in 70K miles.

In the 5-years I owned the S2000 (an '00 which was its first year) the car was in the shop for an issue exactly twice. Both fixed within 24 hours. The Vette is not even playing in that same reliability universe.

I'd also like to ask the question of why no Z06?
When I looked for my vette, I knew I had to have a electron blue Z06, so my choices were very limited. But overall I still looked at alot of Vettes just for kicks and as a whole, the Z06's had less miles and were better cared for. The Z06 didn't tend to be daily drivers such often as C5's (especially autos), and were more pampered by owners (kinda like Cobra vs Mustang GTs).
When taking those things into account, the base C5 price wasn't that much more than the Z06's I was looking at. Really low mileage, mint condition C5's with Z51 option and a few of the other things that are standard on the Z06 were very very close to the Z06 in price.

The $100k tag you quote is for the "Blue Devil" version, should they actually make it. The regular C6 and Z06 I am sure will be priced close to what they are now with the expected year over year small increase.

I am going to go out on a limb here, and maybe you will tell me I am wrong, but I'd bet that the S2000 turns out to be statistically much ahead of the Corvette on the reliability scale. Of course that doesn't mean that there aren't lemon S2000's or bullet proof Corvette's, but as an overall average I wager the S2000 is more reliable. Of course looking purely at the C6 might not yield a full picture seeing as how much younger it is than the S2000. Time will tell.
