All those who said the S2K will outhandle a C5/Z06, has obviously never driven one before. The S2K might have a slight edge in auto-x, but on a real road course the 'Vette will be quicker.
For the record, C5 Corvettes, even the base ones, are faster than equivalently modified S2000s even in autocross.

Top off in the Vette is not even close to the comfort level of top down in the s2000.The wind noise in my C6 with the top off just plain sucked and removing it to put it in the trunk was like doing a chinese fire drill especially when it started to rain.
the wind turbulance in the 'vette sucks big ba!!s. At least in the S, you can put the windows up and cut the wind, but not in the 'vette. I'm speaking from the convertible C5 standpoint and I hear the coupe is much worse with the top off And trying to put the top down ('vert) when it starts to rain is just plain stupid. Instead of being wet from the shoulders up, you get wet all over from having to get out
with that said, they are two different cars. American muscle sure does have it's good points but then so does the S.

I have not owned a C5 but think a well taken car of used one would be a great value. It would offer a different feel from the s2k (more punch, smoother ride) which sounds like what you are looking for. But as some have mentioned, if maintenance costs are a consideration, you may spend more on the C5 than you would with the s2k. Alot of reliability surveys seem to indicate that atleast. Here is a recent one from CNN.

Buy what suits you. Good luck

Here's a pic of mine since everybody's posting theirs.
BTW, my old SC'ed S2K wasn't even close in acceleration compared to the Z even when it was stock.

I used to have so much fun with vettes in my big turbo srt4. Great lookn vet my man!
I haven't ran into any heavily modded SRT4s yet, mostly modded on the stock turbo. But I know they're little monsters on the highway, I'll probably need to spray to beat the ones with bigger turbos.

It's tough to say which car handles better. The Z06 has more mechanical grip by virtue of its much greater footprint. It's also a bit more forgiving at the limit, which should allow the average driver to push harder. The S2000 feels more tossable due to its smaller size and excellent turn-in response. I'll just say the two cars handle differently. A debate over which handles better will be a discussion of semantics.

I had an 01 Z06 as well before my S. The car does get looks, it is very fast, and is fun to drive. However, I never though that the S would be more fun to drive as I have found out that it is. Granted it does not have the power of the Z06. I was so tired though of seeing men in their 50's driving it, guys with tons of chains and shirtless, or older women puffing on a cigarette that look oh so nasty. The vette definitely attracks a diffrent class of drivers. No doubt, keep your eyes pealed when you see one and you will understand what I am saying. My next route will be the new M3 or maybe a used 911. All in all though, the vette is the best overall sports car for the money hands down.

[QUOTE=Aerodax,Nov 8 2006, 11:55 AM] Don't listen to the people here give their opinions on a car they've never driven, especially the comments regarding reliability. Vette's are very reliable; check consumer
