the dodge challenger, when that comes out...well...if i didn't love the s2 so much, i'd think about getting it. better than any performance car that toyota, mitsu, nissan, or honda offer IMO

same w/ the design n' styling of the upcoming camaro...

i think those two cars are drop dead gorgeous. and i've also seen some done up ford fusions that look incredible.
i hope we're talking about in a straight line...i'll be damned if a challenger beat me around a road course.

Leave everything in the dust huh hahahahaha Get that outta here...C5 Z06' are fast. Although, C5's are respectable, they aren't THAT fast. Only thing you'd be leaving in the dust is that cheap interior. sorry

slicknick, as you said man, test drive it...and see if you could live without the S to have the C5 instead. I personally don't like the coupe style corvette (c5) because it looks too big and doesn't have as classic of a vette style being a coupe. Only C5 i wouldn't mind is a Zo6.

sorry to burst the bubbles of anyone...but even with a DECENT suspension setup, which americans are getting better n' better at every year (more euro inspired) the challanger will be FAST on the track. It has an available 6.1 liter HEMI, 540 hp...

and then there's going to be the 6.0 LS2 powered base camaro, which will be putting down 400. No mention of a potential SS, but that thing will definetly kick an S2s ass on the track.

Although the C5 is not as nimble as the S2000 it handles very, very well and the ultimate level of grip is very high. maintenance and parts are much cheaper than the S2000 in my experience. The C5 is very solid and reliable. If you like the way it drives, Why not?

There is not a race made where the C5 vette is slower then the S2000. If you want a different experience and a faster car I say go for it. A C5 is a very nice, fast HPDE car for minimal investment, IMO. I would take a C5 as a track car over an S2000 with a blower any day.

Don't listen to the people here give their opinions on a car they've never driven, especially the comments regarding reliability.

Don't take it for granted that the S2000 handles better, either. Granted, the S2000 handles much more precisely, but the Vette's much more forgiving of mistakes once you learn to go easy with your right foot.

It's not a car for me, but anyone who derides the car's performance doesn't know what they're talking about.

Top off in the Vette is not even close to the comfort level of top down in the s2000.The wind noise in my C6 with the top off just plain sucked and removing it to put it in the trunk was like doing a chinese fire drill especially when it started to rain. The C5's interiior is really dated .The car can be had for a bargain but thats only because the C6 blows it away in every way.I'd loook for a used base C6 coupe,a drop top with power top is gonna be way more expensive but would be like the s2k in that regards.

All those who said the S2K will outhandle a C5/Z06, has obviously never driven one before. The S2K might have a slight edge in auto-x, but on a real road course the 'Vette will be quicker.

Here's a pic of mine since everybody's posting theirs.

BTW, my old SC'ed S2K wasn't even close in acceleration compared to the Z even when it was stock.

What mods do you have to your Z? Do you track it much? Which tracks? How many events? How does the braking system hold up?

I drove my buddies C5 and wasnt that impressed. I would take my S2k any day of the week over the C5. The vettes interior was too cheap and i didnt like the tractor trailer like shifter. such a sexy car tho
