Here I was just causing looking on eBay for an OEM Rio Yellow hardtop and noticed this puppy. Thought some of you guys might get a kick out of this and sorry in advnace if this is a repost.

That looks horrible. Mostly because it's obvious that it was a real top and cut unto what you see there.. Maybe if they put more effort into making the edges more round and using some filler on the inside to take away the hacked look. It looks like they dropped it on a table and went to town on it with a skillsaw.

 

Hmmm.. the hardtop is anchored by the latches on the A-pillar. This "targa" doesn't have that support. Wonder how stable the top is at speed.

 

Honestly, this is far from the worst thing I've seen done to this car. It would look far better were the top the same color as the car.

 

I read how this guy tried to salvage an original HT... considering I've never been faced with such, can't say he didn't do what best he come up with... not certain what all it would take if it needed more support.. giving it a benefit of doubt... looks like something show car specific... moded to one own likings..

 

would be cool if they fabbed up a targa top piece, I am sure a good shop could make one with custom brackets, then you have a real t-top s2k lol.

 

Disgusting. Waste of a nice OEM top.

 

People don't read... It says the hardtop was damaged and that's why it was cut. If it didn't function the same, then why not try to do something different? And of course it looks crappy not color-matched... Duh?

 

In what way was it damaged?
He could have just repaired it....

 

Day #2 and still no takers at $1.66 !
