S2K --> 05 Subaru WRX

My son went from a '00 S2k to a STi and while the STi is faster - he agrees it's not as much fun (I let him drive mine) The only thing is - as an only car a 2 seater is not as practical as a 4 door

The thing I was planning with the A3 was chipping and possibly a full 3" Turboback with no cats and 2 resonators custom made from an exhaust/piping shop? I know the chip puts it at about 250bhp and 270lb/ft. This with FWD may be a bit too much though. Also, really shitty handling/cornering with the A3, but still I think the luxury and drag potential makes up for it. Goes from Auto-X to the drag strip heh.
So no one thinks that a base WRX can outhandle a S2K with coils/sways/s03s? AWD sounds like it would grip so much better.

Since I've never driven an S2K hard, I really don't wanna say that it WILL handle better.
BUT, since I HAVE driven a WRX with coils/sways/and S03's, oddly enough, I can tell you it will handle very very well. With a 23mm or 24mm rear sway bar, you'll be able to induce oversteer with ease. It may take you a little while to adjust to driving AWD at the limits, just like I have problems adjusting to FWD or RWD, but once you do, I think you'll enjoy the WRX as much as you would an S2K. But, you have to remember, they're two totally different cars.. it's just whatever fits YOU the best. It sounds to me that you're very interested in trying something different. If that's the case, I really do think you should go with the WRX. But If you think you'll miss having a RWD roadster with 50:50 weight distribution and the ability to drop the top whenever you want, don't even think about the WRX because you won't be happy with it. If you're just concerned with performance, I think a WRX with the suspension mods you have in mind would easily keep up with a stock S2000.
