No, not with your 2 extra friends you will be luggaging arounds...180*2 = 380lbs more...
But it has the torque to deal with it. I took some friends up to seattle:

1) 350 pounds
2) 250 pounds
3) 210 me

In 6th gear up a steep hill, I still accelerated faster from 65 to 110 then I could ever with me just in my S2000

Thanks for the advice, and you guys are right. I guess my next mod will be a <$2k civic hatch for a beater.

And the reason I felt more comfortable in leaving the Subie is because it has less of a chance that people will screw with it over jelousy.
Nice. That's what I'm doing

Well...$5k Prelude but close enough

If one of your primary concerns is theft, a WRX might not be the best choice. I don't know what it's like in your area. But in the northeast corridor, WRXs are stolen a LOT more frequently than S2000s. And the WRX STi is now the current day Integra TypeR. i.e. Do not drive your STi to any north or central NJ mall because it will be stolen within 10 minutes.

DEFINITELY not a downgrade. I went from an 02 WRX to an 03 S2000 and would go back to WRX anytime. Each car can do things the other cannot. The WRX is lightyears more practical than the S and can handle all types of weather superbly. I miss driving in the rain and puddles at 80MPH with confidence. I would like to be able to drive in snow without sliding at 5MPH. The WRX has good torque which I miss, but I love th 9k redline of the S. Either way I personally would be happy with one or the other.

I went from an 01 S2000 to an 03 WRX.

Big mistake.

Sure I could carry more crap around with me, but the car just wasn't as fun to drive. It didn't feel any better down low. I'm not sure what I did to convince myself during the test drive that the WRX would be a good replacement for me. I had taken a pay cut, but looking back I should have looked for more income instead.

As for pushing each car hard, I felt more confident in the S2000. Maybe because I learned to drive on RWD, but the WRX and AWD just wasn't all that inspiring in comparison.

there's a reason why those saabs have 7k rebates.. coz they suck a$$ and arent selling for $hit!

sure you're getting a 7k discount now, goodluck selling it.. it'll be worth less than a pile of dog$hit my friend..
The customers that paid retail for the Saabarus are screwed, not someone who is buying low. The car is a rebadged Subaru WRX wagon with a nicer interior.

Just to make sure- coils, swaybars, and some nice tires won't even make it handle as good as the s2000 stock?

I can assure you that coilovers, swaybars, and some nice tires and wheels will make it handle damn well. Not sure about stock S2K, but it'll be great with that suspension setup.

Anyone that can vouch and say it will handle better than a S2K?

Also, any opinions on going for an A3 instead of WRX? 2.0T sounds like it could reach high hp easy and the car seems luxurious enough?

Gawd damn, that is one HELL of a deal.

WRXes aren't anywhere near as much fun to drive as an S2000 - from someone with a WRX in the household and a serious and sincere admirer of the S2k. But they are very practical, and with the brakes and suspension, very safe. With that deal on the Saab 92x, you'd have to be a fool (or a shameless poseur) to get a WRX right now.
