s2000, WRX or a 350z
ok is a s2000 worth the 9 or 10k more? I love the handling and the fact that its a 2 seater convertable but the wrx is awd, and thier is HUGE aftermarket support. but i am also a fan of the Z. i cant make up my mind. For the same amount u spend on a s2k u can upgrade the turbo system on the Wrx and get 300hp and 312tq. dont get me wrong i love the s2000 but i would love to have a awd car

I use to own a WRX, and yes it is worth the 9-10 k more for the s2k.
No question. No doubt.
Yes you can modify the WRX, but as with all cars when you add power things can start breaking.
You'll need 265hp to match the Power to Weight of an s2k (not so hard).
You'll need better tires and a better suspention to make turn as well (harder).
A body kit, some better (xenon) headlights, and some leather seats to make it look as good (even harder).
Oh yea a 6spd and a drop top (damn near impossible).
Remember Even with 270 at the flywheel the WRX has bad gearing for highway runs.
4th is an overdrive gear in the WRX (.97 i think). Take a look at the 1/4 mile trap speed on the WRX,
then look at the 0-100 times. The shift from 3-4 is around 92mph, after that shift you hit a brick wall.
The wrx looks like it can hang with the Z and the S2k (in the 1/4), take a peek at the 0-100 times on these cars. It will open your eyes.
The main difference between the s2k and the WRX is the joy. I can drive at the speed limit all day
and have a ton of fun.
AWD is nice, RWD is more fun.

Oh a couple things.
Test drive both,
Get the car around 3k
Slap the gas, push to the floor fast and release.
Throttle response, it's a big plus for NA cars.
Ask around about the resale value of the WRX, its not so great.
Aftermarket mods do almost nothing (unless they are huge) for resale price.
So unless your keeping the car for 10 years your looking at a money pit.
Would you buy a 300hp used wrx with 30k for 25k?
How about a stock S2k (30k miles for 27k)?

Why would you "slap the gas, push to the floor fast and release"? is that some new driving technique that is all the rave? If you do test drive the cars, you will see that the WRX has a lot of body roll. The Z probably is the easiest to drive (torque and 6 speeds) for the normal person. The S2000 is convertible, faster lap after lap (one lap comparisions don't usually point out weight shortcomings on the brakes and tires).
Buy a used S2000 for $25k (there are lots of them out there).

As far as the Z and the S are concerned, Yes the Z is faster in some very real world situations.
If you option out a Z to have xenons, leather, a rear diff, and the brembos (I only note the brembos because it sounds like the non-brembos aren

Seriously,
If you want a convertible, get the S2K.
If you want a coupe, get the Z.
WRX does not give you the "race car" feel when you are driving it. The position of the stick is very low and of course, the stick itself is long.
