S2000 vs. 350Z touring - Which one should I buy
I have quite a decision to make. I have deals on both a Silverstone s2000 or a Brickyard 350Z touring (which would have to be ordered). I've driven both, and I must say, both have their pros and cons. I don't know which one I should choose (and I can't have both). Here are my pros and cons:
S2000
Pros: Refined good looks that will age nicely. Limited production, so they wont become commonplace. Convertible! Classic roadster feel and handling.
Cons: Alot of wind noise (with the hood up and on the highway, and I drive 50 miles a day, most of it highway). Lousy Stereo. Very limited cargo space. Fun to drive, but unsure of everyday use. Live in snowy midwest - can it be a year round car.
350Z
Pros: Drop dead good looks, (more of a looker than the S2000 - though newness may wear off, and the look may not age as nicely as the S2000). Less wind noise on the highway. Bose sound system. V6 engine 287hp engine. Automatic (with "tiptronic - I have to get this so the wife can drive it")
Cons: Higher production numbers (so in 6 months, many more will be on the road, and they won't turn as many heads). NOT a convertible! Likely won't hold value as well as the S2000.
Input from as many as possible may influence my decision. Thanks

I was on the list for a track 350Z before I got the S2000, but I haven't driven the Z yet so I can't say if it is better or worse.
From what I hear the Bose stereo in the Z isn't that great, better than the S2000's but that's not saying much.
The S2000 is cheaper than the touring and it's a convertible. The convertible 350Z adds another $2-3K.
The S2000 may have a 47% resale vs a 39% resale for the Z after 3 years (I read this in a money magazine).
I don't think I'd like to drive either one in the snow. Some people do but not me.
The Z is probably the better highway car (Tin roof, less wind noise, more stretch out room).
Either one is a great car. You hit all the points I was going to make.
What's the difference in price?? If it's $3-4K cheaper for the S2000 you can put that into a winter beater like an old FWD car. That's a way to look at it.
Also your wife should be able to drive MT. I mean what's that about? If you have 2 arms and 2 legs you can drive MT.

You have to make up your own mind. Do you want a refined comfortable GT. Or a raw, visceral, unadulterated pure sports car. These are two distinctly different cars, if you've driven them both that should be very obvious.

Not to sound like an arse, but if you have doubts about the S, then it is not the car for you. I have seen many people post and ask the same question you have, and then they bought the S. Within a few months, they were selling their S. You have to really love this car if you're going to buy and keep it. You have to love the small cockpit feel, the no trunk room, the excessive interior noise. Because if you don't, then these things will eat at you.
For me, I have always loved this car since its inception and most of the times, I don't even see the negative stuff with this car.
