Long relationship with Toyota. Plus the B-series won't meet current emissions standards. And Honda is fully moved on to the K-series engines.

BTW, stay away from 2ZZ (celica) turbo kits. The motor isn't particularly durable when tweaked.

Celica GT-S' are having a hard time getting into high 13's... and the turbo kits are unreliable.

The Elise motor wont be a good "modification" platform, but it'll be a great "stock" car.

My roommate owns a GT-S and hates the lack of potential from his motor.

I have the 2ZZ in my Vibe and it's a good motor, but besides intake and exhaust, there isn't much you can do to the motor and maintain good reliability. Luckily, intake and exhaust mods net nearly 15 wheel hp.

The neat thing about the 2ZZ is the sound it makes (especially with a cold air intake) from 6000rpm to the 8350rpm fuel cutoff sounds very, very good, better than all the DOHC VTEC motored cars I've owned and ridden/driven in.

Only problem is that its hard to hear that sound when you're in the VTEC car pulling rapidly away...

Why are we even comparing S2000 to the Elise? The weight differences is just to much. If you totally strip the s2000 it might have a better chance.

I don't understand why you don't want to compare the two cars just because they weigh so differently.

the car is clearly in our market.

Lotus Exige has a 178hp engine in it and that is very much on par with the S2000 in terms of acceleration. All the 'lower' variants of Elise are slower (in terms of acceleration).

Though, on most tracks it takes only a 'standard' 120hp Elise to match the S2000. So any Elise with more power (and similar weight) will be quicker around the track. Something like Exige lap on par with 911 GT3.
