mid engine cars looks like an incredible pain in the neck to work on
You can't even check the oil in the 987 yourself. You rely on the computer to tell you if you're good on oil or not.
And maintenance is going to be more expensive than the S2K because labor rates are higher and parts are more expensive.

With 9 quart of oil, it is supposed to be good for 20k miles per oil change. But service is $300 per oil change.

And what are you doing with an S2000? Are you just another wannabe 2002+NSX owner?
As far as even trying to draw any type of comparrison from an S2k to an NSX, you can't. They share nothing in common except that they are both RWD and are both made by Honda.

Like it or not, the perception that the boxter is "just a wanabee 911" or that it is "a poor man's Porche", is a very common perception, true or not. Granted, I think that most ethusiasts or people knowledgeable about cars would realize that the 987 is really a pure sports car and really meant to offer everything that the Porche name is known for, just in a more affordable package. I have been with people who really don't know a ton about cars, and their 1st comment when they see a boxter is along the lines of what I quoted above. IMO this is due to the fact that when the 986 was originally introduced the intention was to make a more affordable Porche, unfortunatelly Porche made a "cheaper" car in every sense of the term. The boxter has sort of carried this "dark cloud" around ever since, and for most people a Boxter is a Boxter regardless of year or model.

well you're one out of about 1,000,000 people who would, because the base 911 would eat a 2006 Boxster alive
and if you can really afford a 911....as in, plunk 20% down today and afford payments no problem, plus owning a house...you likely wouldn't be hanging out on an S2000 forum

So for you to make an assumption based on nothing proves how dumb you are.
Then again anyone can see this by reading your previous posts.

New Boxster S has 310HP, limited slip, weighs 2900 pounds, has amazing brakes, probably the best-stiffest roadster chassis for daily driving, (or one of) is a real 2 seater with the engine behind your ears, sounds intoxicating after 4000RPMs, 0-60 in 4.8 secs, beautiful balance, light on its feet, steering feel, etc....
What more could you want out of a roadster?
