S2000 Modulo Concept
#17
The Modulo S2000's design is based off aerodynamic efficiency.
The aerodynamics incorperated in the bumpers are based off Honda's research of airflow patterns over desert sand dunes, hence the sand dune like ripples.
Wind tunnel tested and proven for maximum efficiency by Honda R&D Japan.
The Modulo S2000 prototype was a Model Study prototype car to see how the general public would react to a sports car designed of function instead of nonsense styling.
The outcome is clear from just from the response on S2ki. Almost nobody understands it enough to appriciate it. This is why the production S2000 you purchased is designed with the 2 fake front bumper inlets that do nothing but cause drag by trapping air to slow your car down.

Along with Europe, Japan, and the rest of the world who bought the AP1.
Ap2 has a new front/rear bumper to lower drag.
Still you can ripple it all you want, but I saw NO underbody coverings or a windshield that isn't lower angled than the one that all S2000's have.

Tsuchiya clearly mentioned while he was driving that most people buy aftermarket parts for to slap on the S2000, but unfortunately most of them are just for the "look" and really do not do anything in terms of aerodynamics.
When they were designing the bumper, they considered the question "How should it be made so that it maximizes the efficiency?", not "How should the bumpers be made so general public will think it looks cool?"

You haven't seen any under-body coverings because you've never even seen the car in person to get on your knees and look underneath. Here's a picture of the rear diffuser and the under panels.
As for the windshield comment think about it, it's a convertible! If you angle it more it will collapse on your face in the event of a rollover because the increased angle would give it no strength. Leave the physics to engineers. Honda wouldn't do a modification to endanger their customers even though sometimes I wish they would.
