And I heard great things about the S2000. I change cars often, so its not the biggest thing in my life when I choose cars. I select my cars because something about that car drew me in.
I chose the M3 because its the next performance car out there right now that is suitable for me at this time. I didn't choose another S2000 because I didn't like the way the 2004 S2000's drove. And to top it off, not that it mattered, yes, there are no reds available.
Hmm....flame away....Sheesh

The M3 is an awesome car and don't let the troubles that some have had worry you. I am no my 2nd E46 M3 and absolutely love...it is IMO the best daily driver on the planet. It performs on par or better than the Porsche 996 in about ever category, seats more and costs considerably less. I go through ALOT of cars but I think this one will be a car that I keep for a long time.

Well, to answer some of your questions:
I didn't need to drive it...well, they actually didn't have any M3 coupes here to drive, and I'm buying a coupe. And secondly, it really didn't matter how it drives, because the M3 was the only car to get right now. I knew I was going to get rid of my S2000 after the accident for sure. I actually want my new car by the time my S2000 came out of the body shop, so it can go to the new owner right away

Christy,
Snaps to you. I have a friend who has a 2002 M3. Him and I swap cars a bit (and sometimes on the racetrack too). I really like the car. It is far more powerful than the S2000, at least it feels that way because it has torque down low. The steering & shifter (though compared to the S2000 ???) are very nice, and it revs very smoothly (nice high rpm count). The interior is more lavish too. It won't be the go cart like experience but it is a tremendous everyday car. Good Luck.
