I honestly don't care about cayman s or z4m beating our car, because of the huge price difference, but at least beat the 350z.

Tracks with longer straights have a tendency of favoring cars with more torque. I remember a comparison a long time ago in Sport Compact where they compared a Mustang GT against an Integra Type R and on the track the Stang won, and quite handily too. It beat it consistently by over a second on the course, but it certainly wasn't due to higher cornering speeds. Take the same two cars in an autocross scenario and I'm sure the outocmes would be drastically different.
So back to this comparo, you add in the rain and the Z being heavier with wider tires...
Btw, who ever said the 350Z was incapable of handling? The Z is a great car, most of us prefer the S2000 mostly because of the driving experience and the feel of a lighter car, but the Z is extremely capable.

i would love to see that race on dry road.
Best Motoring did a head-to-head shootout on a dry track. The Z won it fairly easily - made the pass within three laps and walked away after that. The S2000 driver did make a mistake that gave the passing opportunity but the Z was quite a bit quicker overall (I think about a second faster on its fastest lap).

High HP tracks favor the Z big time. At TWS i had no chance against a 350Z that was driven very well. But, at MSR Houston a much twistier track the only thing in my run group that passed me were the elises. The same Z was at both track days.
Also, running the rain is great. That was when I made most of my passes. It's good for learning and separates drivers.
Also, tracks with long straights favor high HP cars not high torque cars. That mustang vs integra comparison went the way it did because of the huge difference in HP between the integra and the mustang. High torque helps shoot you out of corners when you get bogged down or are in the wrong gear...that's about it.

What's the point of doing a race in the rain?
