I did similar comparison when my s2k lease was up and ended up with evo. Although g35 is great looking with nice performance and luxury, I didn't like the fact that it's more of a compromise between luxury and performance compared to s2k and evo. And the fact that everyone who don't actually drive a sports car has one to just have a sports car and be in a sports car. I would pickup a 325 for sporty luxury if compromising performance is a choice. I like s2k and evo way better because they're no compromise products and way higher enthusiast to wannabe owner ratio.
I can't say I regret taking the evo as the performance is just superb. But then again the racer boy to mature driver ratio is high and plus the rice appearance is a drawback. I guess s2k or tsx/rsx type-R with sh-awd and the high performance version of the turbo engine in rdx would be ideal. But for now, I would stick with s2k or evo still.

test drove the viii today. it's pretty sweet and has a great amount of acceleration.
but in the end i would've had to cover too much negative equity, so i didn't feel like shelling out 3k just to get an evo. so i'm gonna keep the g for a while longer and pay it off a little.
while i was waiting for them to appraise the car there was an s2000 in there, i decided to sit in it and a whole bunch of memories of how cool the car was came back to me. it's gonna come down to the evo and the s2k, the choice is really hard though.

i traded my 2001 S2000 on a 2003 evo almost 3 years ago.... i kept the evo for 2.5 years..... great cars.... mine (stock) was faster on the track than any stock S2000, but maybe they just couldn't drive?
i ran the qtr mile at 13.4@102mph in my Evo and i even lifted between shifts.... evo's are great cars.... and I had no real quality issues....my warranty even worked for a few small issues even after drag racing, auto-x and time trials.... and i even had the ECU Flashed by Al at Dynoflash.....so that crap about Mitsu voiding all warranties was a little lame...

I think, you're payments may be less if you trade in, but how many extra months?
I think it's unwise to trade a lot. I have done this myself with cars only for 18 months several times. I don't think it made me extra happy with the new cars for very long.
Now I like to buy and hold. For example if I can "live with" the S2000 for 4+ years by the end of that time, it'll be paid off and not worth especially much. But it should still be a nice car to keep a long time as a fun toy.
You could do the same thing in reverse by keeping the G35 "you can live with it" and then get a S2000 cheap as a toy. Have nice DD and nice toy.
IMO.
Good luck.
I'm a little leary of a EVO used.

You can still add exhaust, intake and other simple bolt on's....supposedly even on the 03's the dealership cannot detect the ECU Reflash.......

I was in the same boat. I had a MY00 S2k and then got a MY05 G coupe. I hated the G when I got it and still dislike it now. I just keep it around becuase I dont want to take such a hit financially. I agree with you on the torque and looks but luxurious interior? If anything thats why I dislike the car. I loathe the front dash, rattles on the vents, clutch, and the forever chipping paint. You may think, why did I buy this car? I ask the same question to myself everyday. As far as the evo goes, its quick and all but I think the s2k is the better bet. I was contemplating on the evo also but I cant show up at clients house in a rice rocket.

if you get the Evo inspected to make sure it didn't get too abused you should be okay.... all 2003 evo's came with a 60k (i think) powertrain warranty) and all 2004's came with 100k powertrain warranty..... that assumes you don't add a boost controller, or something obvious to the car.

Next best thing to the S2 of speed and handling to me is the Evo.
If fuel economy is ur priority stay away from the Evo, I only avg around 20mpg Evo
and 26mpg S2.
