S2000 or e36 m3?

like others mentioned i did it. i sold my s2k to save money for a house though. i love my M3, its just as quick as my s2k, if not faster on the top end, and torque is NICE. its an older car though, id say get one in addition to a s2k, not to replace.
things to watch for before buying:
cooling system, has it been replaced/service
listen to the car for VANOS noises, sounds like a dull rattle at idle
there are PLENTY of used M3's on the market so be picky and find a well cared for car, with good records and refuse to pay anymore then 15k for one, no matter the mileage....there just not worth more since the E92's came out. E46's are now gettable in the low 20's which is where the E36's were just two years ago.

artic/titan silver two tone FTW!!!!
If there's anything I would trade my S2k for it's another M3 in Estoril. I loved driving my old M3 probably more than my S. But a nice Estoril M3 one is worth about the same as my S and I just don't want to deal with old BMW maintenance time and money anymore (though the drivetrain is practically bulletproof).

Don't do it! As sporty as the E36 M3 is, it's still not as nimble and agile as the S2000. Then again, they're two different cars. Unless you need a 4-seat car, 2-seat sports roadster is more fun, especially in the sun.
In my opinion, the E36 has always looked like a modified Toyota Tercel for some reason.
