I put a lot of miles on my E36 before it was run into by a Nissan Armada. Would still be driving the car now if it would not have been damaged. The E36 is a well known product and what goes wrong and how to fix. Parts cost so be ready for that if you need to fix anything. www.bimmerfest.com is a good forum with out all the crap that is on most of the other BMW forums.

Good luck on which ever way you go.

I love the e36 too, but most of those cars are pretty beat, everyone who has or had them drove them pretty hard it seems. I would stay away unless you know EVERYTHING about the car otherwise you could be in for some expensive headaches.
