Option 2. People hate on the Boxster, but IMO they are talking out their ass. A good sportscar is made better by an open roof. Unless you plan on tracking the car, you will have more fun in the Boxster just because you can drop the top. Cayman's look a little funky to me anyway.
And I am a believer in having a 2nd car for crappy weather, trips to the mall/city/ball games when you don't want to leave your baby in harm's way. Just make sure that 2nd car is something you like driving.

I'd do the Cayman S and S2000. You said it yourself that you love the S2000. The Cayman would also be a blast to drive, but you'd also appreciate the times you get to drop the top and take the S2000 out for a blast.

My favorite car of all time is my S2000. I absolutely love it to death. It is wonderful to drive, cheap to own/operate, and perfectly reliable.

My opinion means nothing, because I don't really care for the convertible aspect of the S2000. However, I'd say that if the S2000 isn't fulfilling your desires on other levels, then go with the Cayman S and ditch the S2000 altogether. If you need a DD, just buy a beater sedan... don't spend 20 grand on it.
Of course, since you actually like the drop-top, then this advice probably wouldn't work for you.

And I say sell S2000, buy Boxster S and that's it.
Don't buy a 20K beater if you don't need one that's just wasted money.
Invest that 20K and in 4 years use it and the resale value of your Boxster S to buy another fun roadster

For a while I had a sports car and a beater sedan daily driver (Porsche 968 and Saab 900). After a year of commuting in the sedan daily and only driving the sports car on weekends, I realized I was wasting a ton of money on payments for a car that I drove for an hour a week. I sold the Saab, resumed driving the Porsche to work, and saved money while enjoying my commute a lot more.

s2000 and cayman, no doubt.
but i personally think the FI/335i option would be better. you could up the boost on the 335i and have a bullet DD, and even with a cheap FI kit, you'd in effect upgrade the S2k to where it was back in 99-00 in the pack of sports cars.
my #3 would be Boxster S + cheaper DD.
difficult decisions, eh?

I am actually planning on buying a beater sedan (but for ~$4k, not $20k,) but I'll probably only commute in it 4-5 months a year (~November-March, plus rainy days.) I'll commute mostly in the S, but only when the weather is nice. My S does fine in the snow, but all my new salt chips make me
