S2000 or Cayman S?

well I was thinking of the newer models, at that price point for the 2006+ models I'd have to agree. But at $10k+ less, the s2000, imho, is still a better value.

Depends on what you "value". If it was my only car I'd happily pay the premium for the Cayman S, it's a much better all around usable car. The S2000 makes a great toy, I loved mine but it wasn't nearly as good as a daily with the lack of torque, big wind noise on the highway and crappy stereo. The Cayman S also has really good trunk space with the rear hatch and the front trunk which you can fit about 8 bags of groceries in.

I have owned a couple S2000s and a Cayman S. You really can not go wrong with either, with a $23k budget I believe the S2000 is your only choice, you will need at least high $20s to get a decent Cayman. Don't discount the base Cayman, they are wonderful cars and very reliable.

I would buy a Boxster for its sweet MR layout over RR, and not for price, does that count?
RedCelica - Have you driven a Boxster/911 yet? There are some at the local Carmax - might be a good activity for a Saturday morning.

One point that unless I missed it is missing from this. If you park a nice S2000 or CS on campus you are likely to have haters damage it. With the CS it will likely be keyed. With the S2K you'll have to worry about the top being slashed and someone following you home to slash the top and take the seats. You may be better off with a hardtop.
I would rather have the CS, but if you plan to keep it a few years I would suggest a lower mileage car, thus the Honda.

^^^ lol thats a good bit of speculation on your part and having no faith in humanity. I've parked my S2k (which is in VERY nice condition) outside for the last four years, my college town is pretty small and has a lot of shady areas (including where I live currently), and I've received pretty much the opposite of that, I'm gonna graduate next semester and I've yet to have a single door ding. People see a nice car and seem to pay extra attention not to damage it "because it's expensive" this is a major university though, maybe your at a community college with 4-year school rejects who are bitter and hateful.
