^^Cayman has a roof, bah! If you never intend to take it racing (fixed roof vs. roll bar), go for the convertible.

I drove a 2013 c6 grand sport. Certainly a fun car in it's own right, but lacked the nimbleness of the s2k that I have grown fond of. The c6 vette is only ~3300lb iirc, certainly no heavyweight either. I can't imagine what a porker like the camaro feels like.

I'm on board with Don, I'm excited to see what the next version of these cars looks like. I'm hoping they get back to a pony car and sports car mentality and away from chubby muscle car.

I have said this before on this site, but I wouldn't have a modern Mustang unless it was a 5.0 or the Boss 302.

Also, note that in 2014 allegedly it finally is getting independent rear suspension.

Keep the S2000 - make it work for now, save money for a better car later. Just my two cents.

Oh I love the cayman, and we were talking verts, but you said the word cheap, and cheap =/= porsche. The engine placement and access makes maitenance and repairs expensive, not to mention it's a porsche.
Honestly though, since the amount of money I would need to drop on a cayman over an s2000 will constantly nag at me, I don't think I'd enjoy a cayman all that much. As you go higher and higher classes, your returns diminish more and more. Cars dont get that much faster, look that much better (subjective), etc. Like for me, yeah, the cayman is great, but a vette suits my situation better. I had an S with a hardtop, and I didn't feel compelled to ever buy a cayman aside from the fact that it is a porsche. But when you're driving down the empty dark road where no one is watching I don't think the cayman would make me feel that much better than owning an S or vette.

i have this old crv. looking to replace it. looking to get s2000, fiest st, 370z, brz/scion thingy...but I keep going back to the s2000. will probably end up with an s2000 again.

In my experience, the Cayman really did feel special, yes, even vs. the S2000. Much better steering feel, sweeter, more harmonious soiunds, less NVH - it just feels like the more expensive car it is. OTOH, my Z06 doesn't feel as good, though I understand that Pfadt bushings will close the gap quite a bit. Regardless, it still has a huge fun factor, and I'm a lot more comfortable wrenching on it.

Have owned an 01 s2000, an '04 S2000, and am now in an '08. Keep coming back to them. Love 'em. Have test driven a 350Z, an Sti, Mustang GT, and Hyundai Genesis. None compared. I think you'd have to go something like the Cayman or a Lotus Elise for similar fun and feel.

Boss 302 I'd consider replacing it with. Still wont feel as nimble but would outperform it in every catagory. Very nice cars! For the price I'd get a used c6 z06 instead though.

S2000 does need more power. Even sc'd I find myself rushing it had a lot more torque!
