Default Rx8

I don't know what the performance will be, but its base price is 10K+ cheaper than the S2000 and the 350z. Has anyone owned an RX-7 before? What are they like to drive?

God I Love the amount of incorrect information that I hear from people.

"The RX8 is less then 3000 pounds, is faster then the Z and handles better then the S." First off I paid $28K for my decked out 350Z, so if you find a Rx-8 for $18K then I'm selling my car tomorrow.

26k for the 210hp automatic version with no options or about 31k for the 6spd 250hp version ... compared to the 27k - 34k 350z and the 32k s2000

maybe its me, but i dont see the 10k price difference.

Comparing the RX8 and the RX7 is not a good idea. The RX7 was smaller, lighter, and more powerful. Not to mention that it could handle better.

The RX8 is a step backwards in many ways, IMO.

wow......some opinions of the car shock me. I don't see how this car can be called a "step backwards in many ways". for one, this NA engine develps more power than the 7 did with stock turbos . This is going to do wonders for reliability. I'm not saying it will be faster. I would like to see it lighten up a little myself. but, to say that the design is going in the 'wrong direction' is almost close- minded IMO

I say this as bias free as I can.....but it's hard. I want this car to do so well, that they have no choice but to bring the 7 back. I am proud of Mazda and proud to own one.

The RX8 is not a Mazda sports car, in every definition of the phrase. It's almost blasphemous to compare the RX8 to the RX7, and even the Miata.

It's not a step backwards by any means, but it doesn't fulfill the Mazda tradition, IMO of course. The RX8 is not a grassroots sports car like the RX7/Miata; rather, it's a car to make money.

The animosity on this board towards the RX-8 amazes me. Everyone agrees that the WRX is a kick-ass car; the RX-8 is more powerful, lighter*, has bigger wheels and tires, and will presumably have a stiffer suspension, yet people deride it as a hairdresser's car. Why? Because Mazda dared to tack those two extra doors onto a swoopy body?

This smacks of the same S2000 xenophobia on this board that leads people to disparage the Boxster, the Z4, the 350Z, and anything else that dares to play in the same space as the S2000.

while I would not have worded quite this way......I agree with his idea in part. I don't expect complete objectivity by any means and I am would not expect dishonest praise......but some of the things said about the new automotive releases makes bubbles come out of my head.
