I saw the R&T article also.
What I thought was odd was the quote from the author about the RX-8 being the most beautiful thing to come out of Japan.
Clearly I think the S2000 is a better looking creation and I even suspect the last generation of the RX-7 was better.
Now don't get me wrong, it is not that I don't like it, I just don't think it is the best thing to come out of Japan!

"Is that the new Honda coupe?" "Is that the new Z3 coupe?" The RX8 will just confuse uneducated consumers. Be ready for a rash of "what kind of car is that?"

I don't get it. (shaking head)
Everyone here is entitled to think that Mazda is copying form from Honda.
i will try to phrase my words so as not to be inflamatory.
What is it to you guys if the cars look alike? the performance and style of your cars will not be jepordized. Well the earlier might be........but that is to be determined.
I just think that there should be a larger embracing of the return of the Rotary in some form.
Fortunately for Honda they came up with a design that is very unique. if Mazda copied that, they, in my eyes, will have commited no more a crime than and Acura with the similarities between the NSX and some of the early Ferraris.
the 1987 Ferrari F40 looks very similar to the 1990 NSX in my opinion.
