Slightly related -- am I the only S2000 owner who was pissed off because of how fast the aftermarket grew when the RSX was first released. I know, number of cars sold and all that jazz, but it was frustrating sniffing out crumbs of the aftermarket for the S while forced induction, CAI's, and tuner engines were available seemingly just days after the RSX hit the market!
First off it cost more. Second, it's a whole new platform and I would assume that it's new to everybody else. Limited run.
but yes, besides gears and the s/c there really isn't practical mod related to cost

S2000 at first wasn't marketed towards the integra/civic/prelude crowd.

It does bug me however how much more some of the basic mods cost for the S in comparison. I can't help but feel sometimes that the parts cost more solely because the car is in a slightly higher price class. I guess thats just basic business economics though.

Ya, the S was already where RSX drivers could only dream of being in terms of performance. IMO it hardly needs anything to make its case for ownership, other than torque.

I've been watching RSX vids lately--am I mistaken, or is it slow as hell up until 4500rpm where VTEC kicks in then it jumps almost instantly to 8500rpm? If I'm right, that must get annoying...

Behaves a lot like a 2.0 litre S2000 up to VTEC. (I've owned both).
I recently sold my 02 RSX-S and bought a 06 RSX-S and I can feel exactly the same thing with both cars. Damn RSX feels quicker than my modded MY04 right up to Vtec engagement. Must be the i-Vtec.

Off topic here -
Koala, we don't have the CSX here in the States - looks like a sedan version of the base RSX. How does it drive?

I have an 06 and the rsx revs alot quicker to redline than the s2. Especially the 04 and up s2s. It just does, Ivtec makes a big difference.
The reason that aftermarket manufacturers jumped on the rsx is because of how well it responds to modification. The s2 mods are mostly for looks save for a few.

However, have a fried drive your S with you as a pasenger and do the same in the RSX-S (reving them both to redline, of course) and the S feels much much quicker.

I've seen a bunch of www.streetfire.net vids of RSX-S vs S2000 rolls and they are like dead even. Not sure what that is in relation but that's where my guesstimates come from.

The S2k will feel faster due to being pushed by the Rwd and not pulled as is the case in the Rsx. I also owned the 04 acura TL and that thing made the s2k feel slow. The feeling of acceleration relative to actual acceleration is tricky. For sure that the rsx rev's quicker though.
