Default RSX-S Acceleration

I've been watching RSX vids lately--am I mistaken, or is it slow as hell up until 4500rpm where VTEC kicks in then it jumps almost instantly to 8500rpm? If I'm right, that must get annoying...

Like almost all VTEC equipped cars, the RSX is not really that fast on the low cam. Not suggesting it's all that fast overall, but it is like two different cars pre VTEC and post VTEC. I still think it's a fun car to drive.

Behaves a lot like a 2.0 litre S2000 up to VTEC. (I've owned both).

maybe it's just me but , when i switch between driving my RSx and my S, it feels like my rsx picks up a little quicker on the low end. only mods are an sra intake and exhaust. don't really think that makes much of a difference.

I feel the same type of thing although I think its more an issue of the RSX being smoother. Another factor is that on the RSX having an intake helps alot with throttle response.

In regards to the original poster...I don't know that I would describe the RSX as being "slow as hell" prior to the hot cam engaging, but it is definitely a Jeckyl and Hyde type powerband.

Off topic here -

Koala, we don't have the CSX here in the States - looks like a sedan version of the base RSX. How does it drive?

The CSX is the new Civic. Honda must've added it to the Acura line for our northern friends.

Slightly related -- am I the only S2000 owner who was pissed off because of how fast the aftermarket grew when the RSX was first released. I know, number of cars sold and all that jazz, but it was frustrating sniffing out crumbs of the aftermarket for the S while forced induction, CAI's, and tuner engines were available seemingly just days after the RSX hit the market!
