Rollercoaster - Z06 Cat replacement. UP/DOWN
What an experience dealing with GM on just this one issue! This is sort of a repost of my other thread but hopefully this ride will be over soon.... Most of this is GM, but some of it the dealership (i think).
2008 Z06 Corvette - 6k miles - about 6 months old.
11/7/2008 - check engine light - onstar says Exhaust gas related get it to a dealer down
11/11/2008 - dealer says code P0420 - no fix yet. reflash of ecu program being worked on - down
11/13/2008 - different dealer confirms - down
11/13/2008 - call GM Customer service - Danika will call me back "by friday at the latest" assuming she calls me back - up.... but she didn't.... down
11/17/2008 - Call Danika again but get the person covering for her. Confirms "nothing we can do, new program in the works". I asked for her boss and explainied that the car needed new cats. She takes action up
11/17/2008 - Dealer calls and says we'll get the cats... see you on 11/19/2008. up
11/18/2008 - Dealer calls - "sorry the cats are on backorder"down
11/19/2008 - Dealer calls - the cats will be here friday, bring it in up
11/20/2008 - The only time it has snowed I bring the car to the dealer. down
11/20/2008 - 10:00am - call from the dealer - sorry only 1 cat was shipped, would you like to come pick it up? down
11/20/2008 - the other cat is backordered until December XX down
11/20/2008 - had to drive the car home in an ice storm that had traffic gridlocked in all directions due to the assholes making me bring it in to not have it fixed. down
11/24/2008 - call customer service to see if they can speed it up some. no return phone call down
11/24/2008 - call from the dealer at noon - the 2nd cat arrived today WTF!!! WTF- UP
I am not exaggerating any of this. It has been one big ****ing mess. I had the car sold about 2 weeks ago but he won't take it until fixed (obviously).

I guess the cat's out of the bag in regards to GM, huh?

Can you predict the future? Today is only the 24th, but somehow you already got a call from the dealer on the 25th

I was going to post another topic but figured I'd hop on this one to show how the dealership experience at GM is.
Went to the Pontiac dealer yesterday to take a quick test drive of the G8 GT. The lot was barren except for me and my wife. We took a look at the Buick Lucerne on the lot then went over to take a closer look at the G8. After a few minutes a salesman finally approached us and I mentioned I want to take a test drive but was running low on time (baby was back at Grandmas). He went on to say it would be better for me to come back later when I had more time available. I said I lived a little ways out of town and had time for a test drive to consider my options. He said they just don't let anyone take the car out for a drive and that he was actaully busy but would get me someone else. Needless to say we left.
So why would he be willing to talk with us when I had more time but now has no time when all I need is a little? They had around 8 G8's on the lot and I have only seen 3-4 on the road since they have been out. I wanted to give it a chance since I am willing to go back to GM (dad is a retired GM assembly line worker) but with the dealership experience I am not sure it is worth it.
My wife and I went next door since we still had a little time and test drove the Hyundai Genesis and loved it. We were there for no more than 15 minutes, had a nice little test drive and little hassle for a car that was $8K more. Still need to check out the Acura TL and Infiniti G37 but I think we may have found our next new car.

You're not worthy and the car knows it.
It knows your building a Honda to race instead of taking it to the track.
