It's funny to read about s2000 owners complaining ANOTHER car lacks torque...lol
It's more hillarious to see people suggesting an RSX is better than an RX8.
Under no circumstance would i rather be in a stock fwd car, vs a stock RX8.
And if you wish to magazine-race; look at the numbers- RX8s are only behind S2000s (at the drag strip) by a couple tenths. I've seen several S2000s (2L) at local drag strips. I've yet to see one run better than 14.2 with traps in the mid 90s.
RX8 = mid 14s with traps in the mid 90s.
(shrug)
I understand brand loyalty, but c'mon guys. Get serious.
Yes...I just spent close to $30k on a new car, and I passed up EVOs, because the interior is shit. I passed up EVERY fwd car. I passed up 350Z - and yes, S2000s. I passed up a GTO for the same reason I didn't want a G35. Heft. Weight. Isolation from 'driving'.
I chose an Rx8 because it's fast (data backs this up). It looks awesome (purely subjective), and I can fit the whole family inside. Those were my needs for a car.
Fast. Looks. Practical.
Enjoy.

Having said that, and having driven an RX-8, I would not list "FAAAASSSST" among its list of positive attributes. At best I'd give it a "reasonably quick".

You bought a fine car, no need to justify.
RX-8 is a great choice for people who don't have multiple cars to perform different duties! Especially at a bargain price.
Wayne was commenting on being impressed by the "feel" of the car.
Regardless of objective speed, my opinion is that the Honda "feels" faster because of the nonlinear hp curve, the road noise, and the sound of VTEC at WOT.
And if you look at magazine racing, RX-8 takes more than 2 seconds longer to get to 100mph... so if Wayne was excited by his friend going that fast... wouldn't he be more impressed by a faster 100mph time? Two seconds is a long time...

if i had to have a car with a back seat it would have been a RX8. they are nice. Still, they are almost a second behind the S2000 in 06-0 and the quarter mile. They are a tick faster than my GSR and about even with a RSX-S. Still, they handle well and look great. i think Mazda used a lot of S2000 features.
