Sad thing is that all the modified Mustangs were heavier than the next. I believe the most powerful one was 3700 lbs.

This is a trend that's not encouraging with Ford. ie don't expect the Cobra to do anything about curb weight.

This is why the Corvette will always be better than a Mustang (unless it's just a 1/4 mile car). Top dog Corvette weighs less than base while top dog Mustang weighs more.

Ford has abysmal quality. period. Just look at the statistics.
What statistic's. Really, didn't consumer reports put the mustang as one of the best in inital quality. My F150 (04) has been completely reliable and I beat the living crap out of it towing, draging engines aound and the like. No rattles, no mechanical problems. Something I can not even say about my S2000 in the same miles/timeframe that I owned it.

There are just a lot of Fords on the road so itwould seem "statistically" you would hear about more ford mustang failures then say S2000 ones.

My dad's 1995 F-150 stood up to 9 years of day in/day out construction site abuse and 225K miles before the engine finally went. He put a new one in and got an E-350 for work as well. My 38K miles SVT Focus is holding up just fine.
i, as most people, hold ford trucks in a higher light reliability wise, than the cars.

I believe that the Corvette is made of Fiberglass, surely that accounts for weight saving compared to metal. Of course this comparison could be applied to any car compared to the Corvette.

The article also pointed out that the Mustang 4.6 8 responds well to bolt on mods.

Well at least GM pays attention to weight. The Z06 has bigger engine, bigger wheels tires and brakes and larger oil cooling capacity. All these factors add weight and will be said by Ford as the reason why a SVT mustang is heavier than a GT but dispite the weight adding features of the Z06 it actually weighs at least 100 lbs less than a base C6.

How about a big ass 4 Cam Motor with a blower strapped onto compared to a lightweigh all aluminum pushrod V8. That has a little to do with it right there.
Yes yes and an IRS adds weight. everybody has excuses. It's easy to add HP but it's hast to subtract weight.

i agree with everything but that...however, the lower class fords like the escort do live up to the infamous "bad build quality" that everyone talks about. ford really just puts their "hard work" into their trucks and mustangs, thats about it.
