R&T:
No trucks (Yeah!)
Writers include Dan Gurney and Phil Hill.
Superior racing coverage
Can be a little to much for the tweed jacket with the leather elbow patches
crowd.

C&D
Lots of trucks (boo!)
Nutty articles
Snappier prose

Winner:
R&T

I want to say last month...maybe the month before that. I thought I had it laying around, but I guess I must have tossed it when I was cleaning house yesterday...

"chrome slacks"
"The huge C-pillar flying buttresses "

They also had a pic of a concept Caddy, I forget the model, and the title was "You keep buying them, they'll keep building them."

Back in the early 80's C&D had an article called "The High Speed Handling Characteristics of Pickup Trucks" OMG it was so freaking funny I hurt myself laughing. Some characteristics were described using "beer can" meters. How can you tell when a pickup is parked in the woods? 6 empty beer cans on the dashboard. How can you tell when a pickup is stuck in the woods? 12 empties on the dashboard. How can you tell a pickup is stuck in the woods upside down? 24 empties on the roof. Of course this accompanied illustrations of the scene from inside the cab. It was non-stop jokes. Of course, a couple of months ago a reader pointed out that they had an issue with no cars in it, only SUV's and Pickups. I guess those old days are over!

Anyway C&D rules. R&T is ok, but writing, presentation, test results, sense of humor, etc. just aren't up to par with C&D.

I remember back to some of the old minivan comparisons in C&D where the measured useful interior volume for cargo with beer kegs.

I tend to lump C&D, R&T and MotorTrend into the same category and C&D beats the others hands down. They're moderately objective, informative in technical and practical areas, and they make me laugh. R&T and MotorTrend always manage to leave me cold...even if they're covering the exact same topics...
