RIVERDANCE: A Tale of Two Series
#4
I thought CART was going down for the final count but maybe not. I for one, have always enjoyed both CART and F1, but the last several years F1 has been way too predictable to hold my attention. Thankfully, if the Aussy race is a sign of things to come, I will once again enjoy it.
With the exception of Indy, I've never enjoyed open wheelers on ovals. The IRL formula sucks IMO. Indy has always been an exception because it was one track that could really bite back.... always loved T4. Sadly, all the sponsors do too, thus Tony has gotten his way. But give me a CART car at Mid-Ohio for example were you can get close enough to see the roostertails of heat from the rear wheels. If it becomes a feeder series, so be it. It beats the alternatives.

I hope CART doesn't go away. It is much more entertaining to watch (on TV) than F1, especially the various cockpit views. And you actually get to see the drivers shift gears and race. My favorite CART race is the one in Cleveland where they race at that airport -- talk about passing. F1 is a parade. You might get Montoya or Villeneuve trying to make 1 or 2 interesting moves per race but that is it.
What's interesting about the article is the reception given by Montreal (Canada?). Is it the French influence but I can't picture any large city in the USA being so enthusiastic!
