If I wanted a MB S series, I could buy one.
Consider the Mercedes CLK500 or BMW M3.

Wait for the new 330ci with 258hp, get it if its not bangled.
Otherwise 2005 G35 coupe sounds nice.

Way too much buck for the bang. Also, see my post below on parking worries.

I dig my rx-8, although I haven't driven the poor thing in a week, since I'm trying to get the break in miles on the s2000. it's comfy, has plenty of room for 4 people, has a decent sized (but small opening) trunk, and does handle nicely.

Yes, it gets terrible gas mileage around town but it's not that bad on long trips... 16/22 is what I've been seeing. I find it more pleasant to squirt around in, under 6000 rpm, but any higher than that, and you miss VTEC.

I bought it because it was super cheap. low $20s for a 6 speed with the sport package.

Thanks Kit. A couple of people autocross them here in New England. They do very well in the rain and beat the S2000s in wet conditions.

I suppose I should also explain that my daily driver spends lots of time in public parking lots like the train station and the airport. It will sometimes go for days in a public lot. So far, the Jag has been ok and hasn't been molested. Still, this is a prime reason for shopping for a less expensive replacement. I'm wondering if any of the cars on my list would be a higher theft/vandalism target?
