RX8 IMO is a beauty! I kinda like the way it has a third door that opens to the opposite direction, very stylish and also convenient to get in and out to the back seat. I saw the car in person in the L.A. auto show, and I really like the look and finish from inside out. Especially the sports seats, very comfortable but yet holds the driver and passenger very well. Plus the room in the back seat is not too small to fit a 5'10'' guy while the driver's seat is adjusted all the way back. After being an owner of S2000 for six months, I kinda miss those days when there was a back seat for the third person.

answer to lowandslow, a rotary engine doesn't use pistons like the rest of the world refers to it, rather the moving part is that diamond shaped object you can see in the image. It can make a nice amount of power, and at low fuel consumption because it doesn't have to stop and change direction like a pistion does, it rotates at the same direction all the time thus keeping potential energy and kinetic energy high. A piston must go up on the crankshaft, be slowed down to stop and then go down again where it must also be slowed down. This takes energy, that is pretty much wasted, which isn't on a rotary.

It should be noted that just b/c it is stated as a 1.3 liter doesn't mean low fuel consumption. In all actuality it is comparable to a 2.6 liter piston engine. It also has two rotors, not one. As far as fuel consumption, the MPG are less than a piston engine. No doubt rotaries are awesome engines, but when it comes to repairs your looking at taking out the whole engine. True there are less parts to go wrong, but when they do go wrong...$$$.

the RX-8 is definetley a cool car. i believe i read some where that this spring or this fall the car would offer a steering column "paddle shifter". it was in some magazine, they also were not impressed with its handling and acceleration.
