Vandalism is illegal. In most areas double parking in this manor is not "illegal" if on private property or if it is not impeding the flow of traffic on public roads.

*manner.
You may have taken my post too literally. I understand the legal/illegal aspect of it. However, if someone is parking like a douche (or being selfish, inconsiderate, etc, etc), then they deserve whatever happens to their car.

But they don't.
To be clear, I absolutely despise people who park like that. In fact, I think I hate them. However, we live in a grown-up world full of grown ups and fighting a social faux pas with a criminal act does not justice make.
I won't sit here and pretend like I've never taken revenge on someone when they did something to offend me. I have and it was wrong. Had I been caught I would have gotten in trouble, and understandably so. But I buried the body so deep I don't think anyone will ever find it... err, uh, I mean... I... sure did key that car pretty good. Yeah, that's what I meant.
Seriously though, me the person won't lose sleep over someone getting their car vandalized because they like being an asshole but me the citizen has to find it deplorable to vandalize someone's car because you don't approve of their parking etiquette. Just imagine if you got pulled over for speeding or running a stop sign and the cop, rather than write you a ticket, spray painted your car or busted out a window. I mean, by the logical you guys are imploring, you broke the law, so who that's what you get, right? I think under those circumstances you would agree that the punishment doesn't fit the crime.
All that aside, I see little harm in using fake spray paint.
