regular oil switch to Mobil 1 or Amsoil in Corolla
1. In my 05 Corolla (88k), I have used regular oil, sometimes a blend, changing about every 4k miles.
2. I'm only putting about 8k/yr. on the car sso I want to change oil 1x/yr and I was thinking of using Mobil 1 or Amsoil in order to get the longer interval of 1x/yr. instead of changing it 2x/yr. like I'm doing now.
3. Is there a problem doing that?
4. I ask, b/c I know Amsoil says if you're putting in their oil on a higher mileage car, you should use a "flush" oil first.
5. I didn't know whether this was their propaganda, or if it was technically correct, or whether the same thing could be accomplished by simply changing the oil and filter after 2-4k miles the first time it was used, in case of more debris in the filter.
6. And, if that be the case w/Amsoil, why have I not heard about doing that with Mobil 1?
