Reccomend a car to an unemployed broke dude
So I started looking again at my next car and needed some opinions. This is all really some wishful thinking but it never hurts to dream a little. I actually would not mind a newer S2000 but I cannot stand all the rattles and road noise. The lack of torque is also starting to wear on me.
I was looking at a Cayman S for the longest time and think the car is amazing. It is near perfect- especially with the Adaptive Sport Seats if you can find them. It also has a pretty decent sound system which is somewhat important to me. I also enjoy the styling a lot. Plus it is rear mid-engine which is just a totally different aural experience altogether. Don't forget the Porsche steering.
The downside is that it costs about $40,000 used with about 30,000 miles on average and is not really power-mod friendly. It also has an annoying clutch delay but it can be deactivated. The only worthwhile power option right now is a turbo kit but it costs about $15,000 installed with all necessary components for about 450-500 bhp.
So I started looking towards something like a VW MK4 r32 which can be upgraded for much cheaper. It is also has the best exhaust note of all the cars I have been looking into. The car can be found for somewhere around $15,000 but with pretty high mileage. The downside to this car are that they are all high mileage cars and I am looking at something a little newer and not as beat up. The interior is also really cheap imo and I would get tired pretty quickly. I also hear from a few people that the handling is horrid compared to the S2000.
The only thing that is tickling my fancy is Subaru STI. An 08 with low miles can be had for under $29,000 USED and it would be the newest car to own. Has decent hp and tq stock and can be upgraded for relatively low cost. I dont really need the extra space but it cant hurt. Biggest advantage for the STI is that it can have the quickest 0-60 times when modded. The downside is that I dont find it sexy or as appealing as a Cayman or my S2K. My 2002 AP1 has an 8 year old design and I still find it to be attractive whenever I wash it.
I also looked into the 2007 STI Limited without the park bench rear wing and liked it because it had really snug seats (the Recaros in the 08's are made for really fat people) and a clean front lip. But the Limited costs about the same as an 08.
Anyone have any opinions for something decent? I have considered many other cars but dont want to write about every single one of them.

Unemployed and broke and you considering a Cayman S and an STI I question your state of mind at the moment. . Porsche's are not known for their reliability so that may become a costly issue in the future. But as some say they love the steering feel and the way the Cayman S handles. With the Sti nothing beats the rumble of that beautiful sounding 4 banger; I personally think it is the best sounding 4 banger ever made my S2k coming in second . I believe that the 06 and 07 which are the best years for the STI as far as cosmetics go.
I actually wish I would have gotten an 06-07 STI; nonetheless I love my S2k and the wonderful community that comes along with ownership.
