Take away the Recaro embroidery and what differentiates them from a dozen different seats? Put the Recaro embroidery on famous Chuckster seats and *** Poof *** you've got Recaros you can sell to a lot of guys. Not you guys, of course, but the average car guy knows the brand but can't tell ya a single thing special about them other than they're expensive which makes them a status symbol even if there are no known advantages to the owner. Rolex is the same on a macro scale. It's unimportant this watch has the correct time it's only important it's a Rolex. For most folks you can say the same about Recaro seats it's only important they're Recaros.

From what I understand, they make a ton of seats and not all have their name/branding on it, much like how Enkei makes a ton of OEM wheels but only a few actually have their name on it, same with Brembo.

I don't think Recaro does anything overly intentional with artificially increasing their prices like what Rolex does. Sure, a few rare OEM supplied Recaros are expensive, but mostly their prices are pretty justified- brand new seats are expensive no matter who makes them.

I've put Recaro aftermarket seats in my BMW 1600 and 2002. Those things lasted FOREVER. Lateral support never got mushy, unlike many imitation seats.

Curious to see what the long term outcome will be. Bankruptcy doesn't necessarily mean the brand is disappearing. Sometimes it's being leveraged to restructure debts. Sometimes the company is really circling the drain.

LOL!!!! Agreed. Just installed a Recaro RSG in my driver seat this year and moved my 2005 tagged SPG to passenger seat (added back brace as re-enforcement per NASA rules - not that I ever run with them). Both sourced from Recaro Japan.

I didn't realize there were two entities. So does Recaro Japan sell/offer some seats that Recaro Germany doesn't? I noticed the Jersey Red Pole Position seat doesn't seem to be offered by German Recaro sellers.. I guess maybe those are only made by Recaro Japan? Also are the Recaro Japan seats made in Japan or elsewhere in Asia?
