Real world pricing on 3.6 Passat wagons?
I'm just wondering if anyone can provide any insight on real world pricing for the 3.6 Passat wagons. I'd like a FWD 3.6 wagon with the sport package and xenons. The sticker for the car is $36,990. I'd probably be looking to do a 36 mo. lease with 15,000 miles/year and hoping to get as close to $400/mo. as possible. Damn VW website doesn't seem to have a lease calculator. I think someone once posted on here that these things go for something like $6,000 under MSRP. Thanks.

Edmunds has a True Market Value price on the car's profile.
TMV shows $32 for a 3.6 optioned how you want it - http://www.edmunds.com/new/2007/volkswagen...s.html?action=2

^ It looks to me like the Edmunds pricing for $32K is for the 2.0T, not the 3.6. I find the Edmunds TMV pricing too high, though. For the 2.0T, I think they only took $1,200 off the sticker. I should think you could get more off on a Passat than that...

Optioned the wrong car initially - this is the 3.6.
TMV is nice to know, but I think most people overpay for cars, so I'm sure you can get about 1k under that., Anymore than that I'm not so sure about, depends on holdbacks and the dealership.

VW holdback is 2% of the base MSRP (not including options and freight). And according to Edmunds.com, there's no incentives on Passats now:

Change zip code to check your area.
So the base MSRP on a 3.6 is about 32,xxx. 2% of that is around $640. Invoice is $34,597. Take that and minus 640, then you have the dealership's cost, barring any incentives that Edmund's missed.

The 3.6 Passat Wagon doesn't lease very well, no incentives when we looked (late December) since they were selling decently. Thus, we ended up with a BMW X3si for less than the VW on a 3yr lease.

Jon - your good. Must be all those baby seals you ate growing up.
Sorry, I don't know anything about leases. If you can wait till this fall you can get a great deal. I bought mine for $32.9k(MSRP- $35.5k) in 2/06 but a friend of mine bought a 3.6 Sedan optioned like yours for $29k in 9/06. They were giving them away with $6500 discounts.
